Belarusian lawmakers consider anti-LGBTQ+ bill
Belarus is set to review a bill that criminalizes the promotion of homosexuality, aligning with its ongoing crackdown on dissent led by President Lukashenko. The proposed legislation aims to protect "traditional family values" and restrict LGBTQ+ discussions, reflecting similar repressive measures in allied Russia. Despite decriminalizing homosexuality in 1994, Belarus lacks LGBTQ+ rights protections, with increased suppression following the controversial 2020 election.
