The Dave Brubeck Trio & Gerry Mulligan - album Blues roots 1969 (1974)

After having shared the stage for a short appearance in Newport in 1965 Brubeck and Mulligan met again in 1968 and went on tour together. Soon after, the two musicians decided to strengthen their collaboration with a studio album, recorded in New York the same year. Although the album is pervaded by blues atmosphere, the LP is characterized by an icredible variety of rhythms and grooves. The two leaders interact, playing simultaneous melodies and interject with each other, the melodies are always lurkingly evident and the harmonies always present.
