Denver Congresswoman Introduces Legislation to Address Migrant Crisis and Reform Immigration
  • 2 months ago
Rep. Yadira Caraveo unveiled a package of bills aimed at addressing the migrant crisis and immigration reform. One bill would provide $1.4 billion to help cities like Denver cover shelter and services costs for migrants awaiting asylum decisions. Another would reduce the waiting period for migrants to seek work authorization from 180 to 30 days. The bills come as border crossings have surged and the issue dominates the 2024 presidential campaign. The bills face an uphill battle in the Republican-controlled House but revive elements of a failed Senate deal.
