Burnley woman Diane Fleming is being chased for thousands over a no-win, no-fee cavity wall claim following SSB Law's collapse. At a meeting for victims in Burnley, she tells us about her distress.

00:07 Completely by fluke I was contacted by a solicitor who SSB have passed my file to.

00:16 They told me the case was closed, I thought the case was all finished and done with, but

00:21 this random solicitor messaged me to get in touch because I actually owe money that I

00:26 didn't even know about.

00:28 He has since sent me a copy of that which I have here, dated last August, addressed

00:34 to SSB telling me I had to pay £2,500 within 14 days.

00:39 I didn't actually know about that until two weeks ago and I've still not heard from that

00:46 third party solicitor so basically I'm owing money that I didn't even know I owed at all.

00:50 It's felt awful, I mean I know compared to a lot of other people £2,500 isn't a lot

00:55 compared to some of those that are owing £20,000 and £30,000, but nevertheless just to be

01:00 told randomly one afternoon that oh by the way you owe £2,500 that you weren't aware

01:04 of, actually is quite distressing because we're in a cost of living crisis and £2,500

01:11 of anybody's money is a lot at the moment.

01:15 I think the scariest thing is not knowing where to turn because you kind of think am

01:21 I on my own here, who do I speak to, am I going to have to pay this, are the bailiffs

01:25 going to come knocking, so yeah all in all it's quite a stressful time to be fair.

01:34 Literally up until two weeks ago I did think that I was on my own and then a quick Google

01:39 search led me to, I think it was Money Saving Expert, that led me to a Facebook group, that

01:44 led me to a WhatsApp group and just knowing that there are a lot of other people in this

01:48 situation and having a forum like this, listening to everybody's plight, has been a massive

01:55 help, massive help yeah.
