00:00 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave the importance of national security for the economy
00:08 and the security of the region.
00:11 That's just a few of the promises that the President made before he left for Australia this morning.
00:17 Alan Francisco will answer.
00:19 Strengthening the relationship between the Philippines and Australia.
00:25 That's the purpose of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s visit to Canberra, Australia,
00:31 following the invitation of Governor General David Hurley.
00:34 In his departure speech this morning, President Marcos said that he will also speak in the Australian Parliament.
00:42 As part of this visit, I will have the opportunity to address the Parliament of Australia
00:47 and provide greater detail on the commitments that we place in this partnership
00:51 and our vision for the future of the Philippines.
00:54 President Marcos' visit is also related to the State Visit to the Philippines of Prime Minister Antony Albanese.
01:01 The President said that the relationship between the two countries is now more stable,
01:05 particularly in terms of security and relations.
01:08 I shall also highlight the huge potential in trade and investment that we should maximize in the coming years.
01:16 After all, economic security is a vital component of national security.
01:23 Finally, I anticipate an enhancement of the mutual understanding between the Philippines and Australia
01:29 as we share a common vision not just for our bilateral relations,
01:33 but for the peace and security of the region as well.
01:36 The Executive Board of the Philippines and Australia said that
01:39 the two countries should be equal in terms of the security of the region.
01:44 The President also expects the legislative leadership of Australia to follow the three agreements.
01:52 Collaboration in these additional fields is a clear indication that the strategic partnership
01:59 which we have embarked upon provides greater energy and optimism for closer cooperation
02:06 that is mutually beneficial to both Filipinos and Australians.
02:12 I am honored to bring with me in this visit the best of our motherland
02:16 and our inherent desire for peace and prosperity.
02:20 I intend to serve as a bridge that will further connect the two democratic maritime nations
02:26 and promote our visions of amity, development, and cooperation.
02:31 At the same time, the President also asked for prayers and support from the public
02:36 for the successful state visit.
