00:03 Madonna takes a tumble, J-Hope takes on Beyonce, and Pesso Pluma takes his show on the road.
00:09 We sit down with Ira Starr and we find out who's on the top of the Hot 100.
00:14 I'm Tetris Kelly, welcome back to Billboard News after a long weekend.
00:21 It's Tuesday, February 20th and we gotta start today's show off with some Billie Eilish thoughts.
00:27 Billie Eilish is confused as to why so many Tik Tokers were at the People's Choice Awards
00:32 in a viral video.
00:34 And one of the app's biggest creators is firing back.
00:36 I'm just gonna address this clip of Billie Eilish being disgusted that Tik Tokers were
00:41 at the People's Choice.
00:44 I was one of them.
00:45 In the video circulating the net, Billie Eilish is seen apparently saying, "There's some,
00:49 like, Tik Tokers here," and looking confused.
00:52 And listen, sometimes I too am at events and wondering how did I get in the presence of
00:56 Billie Eilish?
00:57 Should people from the top be invited to the same carpets as A-listers?
01:01 Well Bryce Hall had words for his 24 million followers.
01:06 First off, Billie Eilish, I am so sorry that I didn't acknowledge your greatness and bow
01:10 down to you being another human being.
01:13 Here, there it is.
01:15 And second, People's Choice invited us.
01:18 Okay, somebody's passionate.
01:20 He went on to take away his Eilish stan card.
01:23 But the most sad thing, let me just wipe my tear real quick, the most sad thing is I was
01:28 a Billie Eilish stan.
01:29 I stand you, Billie Eilish.
01:32 And now I don't think I can renegade to any of your songs anymore.
01:36 So thanks for taking out all my content.
01:38 How do you feel about this?
01:40 Are content creators just as valid to attend big award shows as musicians and actors?
01:44 Jump in the comments and let us know.
01:47 There's so much more to get through, let's run down three more things you should know.
01:51 Madonna took a tumble when her dancer tripped on stage but was able to laugh it off without
02:00 skipping a beat.
02:03 The vile video from her Seattle show made its rounds on eggs and I gotta say, I don't
02:08 know how well I'd recover from that at my age.
02:11 Let alone at 65.
02:13 She's the queen of pop for a reason.
02:15 Speaking of tours, Peso Pluma announced he's hitting the road.
02:19 The 2024 Exodo tour kicks off in Chicago May 26th.
02:29 It will have over 35 shows with the Arena Tour ending in Connecticut on October 11th.
02:36 According to a press release, you can expect an all-new show inclusive of a fully reimagined
02:41 set design and set list.
02:43 With the insane year Peso Pluma has had, this show is guaranteed to be one for the books.
02:49 I gotta secure my tickets ASAP.
02:51 ARMY REJOICE!
02:52 The boys may be serving in the military but we can now expect another kind of serve from
02:57 J-Hope.
02:58 Our Hope announced a special album, Hope on the Street Vol. 1, which includes six new
03:03 tracks and will drop on March 29th.
03:06 If that date sounds familiar, it's because that's when we get Beyonce's Act 2.
03:10 It's not a competition in my book, the more music the better.
03:14 Plus J-Hope is giving us a six-part documentary on Prime Video starting two days before the
03:19 album.
03:20 He keeps us fed.
03:21 Time to get to today's interview.
03:24 Rania sat down with Ira Starr and got all the tea from the recent Grammy nominee.
03:29 Did you know when writing it that this was going to be your mega hit?
03:33 Definitely not.
03:34 I was so convinced, they had to convince me to put that song out because I wasn't sure.
03:40 And when it did come out, instead of blowing up, I was having the worst case of imposter
03:45 syndrome.
03:46 Really?
03:47 Girl.
03:48 What was it that you weren't sure about?
03:49 Why did they have to push you?
03:50 I think I wasn't just sure.
03:53 I put out different sounds all the time.
03:55 But with Rush, Rush was very different from anything I had put out.
03:57 And it was like, "I don't know if I want to do this."
04:00 It was just very different.
04:01 And everyone was like, "Trust me, Ira.
04:03 Just trust your team."
04:04 I was like, "Okay, let's do it."
04:05 And when it came out, it blew up immediately.
04:08 Just from the snippet, like a 30-second snippet, it was already trending.
04:11 And it blew up and I was like, "I feel like I have imposter syndrome."
04:14 Because nothing like that has ever happened to me.
04:15 So I was like, "Oh, I don't know.
04:16 I don't know if I deserve this."
04:17 You know how it goes.
04:18 I was a big Disney girl.
04:19 I used to watch Disney and all the pop stars.
04:24 I wanted to be a pop star, but I wanted to be a teenage pop star, to be exact.
04:27 I wanted to be the Black Hannah Montana.
04:29 I love that.
04:30 You are.
04:31 Look at her.
04:32 Look at her.
04:33 She is.
04:34 I'm like, "Look at this."
04:35 I wanted to be the Black Hannah Montana.
04:36 I was like, "Okay, you know what?
04:37 I'm going to grow up and I'm going to be that representation for Black women and African
04:41 girls."
04:42 I want my younger sister to feel inspired by this and her friends and everybody.
04:46 I want young people to be able to feel inspired by this.
04:49 So I felt like I had a responsibility to do that.
04:51 I think you're probably breaking that generational thing where a young girl is going to look
04:56 at you and be like, "No, I deserve to do that.
04:58 I want to do that.
04:59 I can."
05:00 And I think that that's so full circle in the most beautiful way.
05:04 For the full interview, head over to Billboard.com.
