The Dawwas family arrive in Sydney after fleeing Gaza

1.5 million Palestinians are now trapped between the blocked Rafah border crossing with Egypt and an impending Israeli offensive on the last free part of the besieged strip. While thousands of Palestinians managed to clear the border headed for the US, Canada, and other countries, only 207 Australian visa holders have made it out since the beginning of the war. After arriving safely in Sydney, the Palestinian Dawwas family described the cost of this journey without Australian consular assistance.
