00:00 "We love to laugh, so everybody can hear."
00:07 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're looking at Disney songs that had us laughing.
00:12 Some plot points will be discussed, so look out for spoilers.
00:15 "Put me in summer and I'll be a happy snowman."
00:21 Number 10.
00:22 Dig a little deeper - The Princess and the Frog
00:25 One of the themes of The Princess and the Frog is realizing what true happiness means.
00:30 Mama Odie might be an eccentric personality, but she's much wiser than she seems.
00:34 "Don't matter where you come from, don't even matter what you are.
00:39 A dog, a pig, a cow, a goat, and a mermaid tail."
00:44 Using a quirky song to make her point, she makes Tiana and Naveen see the difference
00:48 between wanting something and needing something.
00:51 True to form, Mama Odie messes with the characters with the help of her beloved pet snake, Judy,
00:55 and a number of rosy-it spoonbills as her backup singers.
00:59 "Blue sky, blue sunshine, can't keep.
01:02 You gotta dig.
01:04 You gotta dig."
01:07 Dig a Little Deeper illustrates how Mama Odie sees the lighter side of things, with an impromptu
01:12 musical performance that showcases her magical abilities.
01:15 Watching the feisty lady is both charming and amusing, as she carries so much life beyond
01:20 her years.
01:21 "You find out what you need.
01:22 Blue sky, blue sunshine, can't keep.
01:23 You gotta dig.
01:24 You gotta dig."
01:25 "You gotta dig.
01:26 You gotta dig."
01:27 "You gotta dig.
01:28 You gotta dig."
01:29 "You gotta dig.
01:30 You gotta dig."
01:31 "You gotta dig.
01:32 You gotta dig."
01:33 "You gotta dig.
01:34 You gotta dig."
01:35 "You gotta dig.
01:36 You gotta dig."
01:37 "You gotta dig.
01:38 You gotta dig."
01:39 "You gotta dig.
01:40 You gotta dig."
01:41 "You gotta dig.
01:42 You gotta dig."
01:43 "You gotta dig.
01:44 You gotta dig."
01:45 "You gotta dig.
01:46 You gotta dig."
01:47 "You gotta dig.
01:48 You gotta dig."
01:49 "You gotta dig.
01:50 You gotta dig."
01:51 "You gotta dig.
01:52 You gotta dig."
01:53 "You gotta dig.
01:54 You gotta dig."
01:55 "You gotta dig.
01:56 You gotta dig."
01:57 "You gotta dig.
01:58 You gotta dig."
01:59 [Music]
02:00 Using typewriters, plates, and buckets, the animals create a snazzy piece of music that's
02:03 hard to resist.
02:04 It's also funny that they have no idea how much destruction they're causing, as the humans'
02:08 belongings are turned upside down.
02:22 It's basically what happens when a group of unsupervised kids are left to their own
02:26 imagination.
02:27 The song isn't funny by itself, but in combination with their antics, it's a riot.
02:41 Number 8.
02:42 Zero to Hero - Hercules
02:44 Everybody loves a hero, right?
02:52 Not if you're the god of the underworld, you don't.
02:54 After Herc finally proves himself, the protagonist's stock couldn't soar higher.
02:58 This is taken to over-the-top lengths when Zero to Hero shows just how popular he's become.
03:09 Despite sending one foe after another at Hercules, Hades is denied victory when the former inevitably
03:15 wins.
03:16 With the muses acting as Herc's hype girls, we watch the hero experience incredible fame,
03:20 complete with weeping fans, merchandise, and his picture on every vase.
03:30 It's all kinds of ridiculous, as the song gets more outrageous the longer it goes.
03:35 Plus, Hades' inevitable outburst will never not be funny.
03:39 Yes indeed.
03:40 Number 7.
03:53 Everybody Wants to Be a Cat - The Aristocats
03:56 The idea of cats singing around the piano sounds pretty slapstick.
04:00 However, The Aristocats embraces this and then some, delivering a song that goes off
04:04 the rails.
04:17 Starting out as a cool jazz duet, the inclusion of further felines into the scene kicks up
04:21 the tempo.
04:31 Soon enough, everyone joins in as our protagonists highlight the benefits of being a cat.
04:36 There are some offensive elements that can't be excused, but can be sped over.
04:41 Its catchy and upbeat nature almost makes you forget how bizarre it is for cats to sing
04:45 and dance in the first place.
04:47 We return for a reprise in the ending, where other animals join in to close out what is
04:51 an oddly hilarious song.
05:08 Number 6.
05:09 A Girl Worth Fighting For - Mulan
05:11 What happens when you have a group of guys who've never been around women?
05:15 They might just make up a song about their lofty expectations for a wife.
05:29 When Mulan's group is feeling down and out, they pass the time thinking about their dream
05:33 girls.
05:34 However, exaggerated perceptions of their masculinity and the potential partners they
05:37 want make for an unintentionally humorous combination.
05:41 Mulan works as a perfect contrast, as the men reject her take on femininity that's
05:46 ironically more realistic than their own.
05:49 "Uh, how about a girl who's got a brain, who always speaks her mind?"
05:55 "Nah."
05:56 But it's all in good fun, and the characters distract themselves from the grueling march
06:00 to war that becomes all too real at the song's conclusion.
06:03 "What do we want?"
06:06 "A girl worth fighting for."
06:09 "A girl worth fighting for."
06:14 Number 5.
06:15 Gaston - Beauty and the Beast
06:17 While the display of masculinity in A Girl Worth Fighting For was good-natured naivete,
06:22 that on display here is simply delusional.
06:25 After getting rejected by the kind and intelligent Belle, Gaston is cheered by his crowd of yes-men.
06:30 "Big like Gaston.
06:31 Fucking big like Gaston.
06:32 No one's got a swell cleft in his chin like Gaston."
06:33 "As a specimen, yes, I'm in tears.
06:34 I'm in tears."
06:39 They recount all the things that make him great, none of which are actually positive
06:45 attributes.
06:46 And yet, whether it's the wacky lyrics or the crazy antics on screen, there's something
06:50 about the track that instantly lifts your mood.
06:52 "As you see, I've got biceps to spare."
06:55 "Not a bit of him scraggly or scrawny."
06:59 "That's right.
07:00 And every last inch of me's covered with hair."
07:03 It helps that the music is easy to get into, as everyone chimes in to feed Gaston's already
07:08 overstuffed ego.
07:09 Ultimately, what's amusing is the way the song portrays how this character lives in
07:13 his own little world.
07:18 "I wanna die.
07:24 It's over."
07:27 Number 4.
07:28 Hakuna Matata - The Lion King
07:30 Suffering from a traumatic event should ideally be followed by grief counseling.
07:35 In the cartoon world, though, you can just sing your troubles away like Simba does.
07:39 "It's our problem-free philosophy.
07:42 Hakuna Matata."
07:44 "Hakuna Matata?"
07:46 "It's our motto."
07:49 "What's the motto?"
07:52 "Nothing.
07:53 What's the motto with you?"
07:55 Exiled after inadvertently causing his father's death, the young cup encounters Timon and
07:59 Pumbaa.
08:00 The duo lifts Simba's spirits by making him see their way of life.
08:04 The impressionable youngster quickly embraces the "Hakuna Matata" motto.
08:07 What's a motto with you?
08:09 Deciding to ignore his problems altogether.
08:11 "Hakuna Matata.
08:12 Ain't no passing craze."
08:13 "It means no worries for the rest of your days."
08:20 "Yeah, sing it, kid."
08:22 Although that isn't the healthiest way of coping with problems, it does get Simba out
08:27 of his doldrums.
08:28 The comical composition of the song, coupled with Timon and Pumbaa's cartoonish behavior,
08:32 does get the mood going.
08:33 By the end, we're just as inclined to laugh, joke, and mess around for the rest of our
08:38 days.
08:39 "Hakuna Matata.
08:40 Yeah.
08:41 Matata.
08:42 Ha ha ha."
08:43 "Hakuna Matata.
08:44 Yeah.
08:45 Matata.
08:46 Ha ha ha."
08:47 Number three.
08:48 "I've Got a Dream."
08:49 "Tangled."
08:50 When surrounded by seemingly dangerous men, you don't expect a heartfelt sharing of their
08:54 deepest desires.
08:55 "But despite my evil look and my temper and my heart, I've always yearned to be a concert
09:03 pianist."
09:04 But that's how it is in Tangled, when Rapunzel and Flynn Rider find themselves in a shady-looking
09:08 pub.
09:09 Encouraged by Rapunzel to see beyond their stereotypes, the men reveal what they're most
09:13 passionate about.
09:14 "Bruiser Nicks, killer shows, Venger's little puppet shows, and Vladimir collects ceramic
09:15 unicorns."
09:16 There's a whole lot of fun in this song, and it's a great way to get a little bit of
09:17 a kick out of it.
09:25 There's a wholesome quality to how easily they shed their rough exteriors and sing their
09:29 hearts out.
09:30 Of course, they do get carried away and share a bit more than necessary.
09:34 Flynn adds to the hilarity when forced to partake, largely missing the point of what's
09:38 happening.
09:39 "They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny, on an island that I own, and in Rested Anne
09:45 alone, surrounded by enormous piles of money."
09:50 The wild, raucous atmosphere sets the song up as what can be best described as a beautiful
09:55 mess.
10:01 2.
10:08 In Summer - Frozen
10:10 Disney movies usually contain songs for comic relief characters, and Olaf makes the
10:15 best of his.
10:16 The snowman delivers a touching ballad for his love of summer, failing to realize the
10:20 irony of it all.
10:21 Although the activities he has planned are all designed to melt him, Olaf remains blissfully
10:26 unaware.
10:27 The song plays to a mischievous beat that's easy to appreciate, as the character's excitement
10:31 is palpable from start to finish.
10:33 "Winter's a good time to stay in and cuddle, but put me in summer and I'll be a… happy
10:40 snowman!"
10:41 And let's face it, who wouldn't like to dance it out with a snowman under the sun?
10:45 While Kristoff does have the appropriate reaction, it's probably for the best that
10:49 no one tells Olaf.
11:00 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
11:04 Un poco loco - Coco An impromptu performance on stage that's
11:08 as cute as it is funny.
11:20 Kiss the Girl - The Little Mermaid You've never seen animals this excited for
11:23 a kiss before.
11:38 You're Welcome - Moana The rock lets his inner crazy out big time.
11:53 I Love to Laugh - Mary Poppins If only we all had an Uncle Albert to laugh
11:58 with.

12:28 Friend Like Me - Aladdin No performer arguably had more energy than
12:32 Robin Williams, who brings the genie to life with this explosive number.
12:48 When Aladdin voices his doubts about Genie's abilities, the latter proves his worth with
12:53 every bit of magic he has.
12:55 Williams' comedic charm shines through, as Genie conjures the wildest things imaginable
13:00 while belting a solid tune.
13:10 Everyone from 40 thieves to dancing elephants and the genie's doppelgangers appear.
13:15 It's the perfect introduction to a character known for his comedic prowess and showmanship.
13:29 Thanks to Williams' delivery of the lyrics, the song carries a satirical wit that's enjoyed
13:34 by audiences of all ages.
13:36 Shortly after, the genie steps up again with the similarly riotous Prince Ali that dazzles
13:41 all of Agrabah.
