Malaysia's gig economy is in the spotlight once again as the debate over the necessity of a dedicated regulatory authority persists. Calls for the establishment of a Gig Economy Commission, largely led by Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi, have been met with government promises of Cabinet consideration, or assertions that existing structures are already sufficient.
