President Biden ordered an 18-month pause on deporting certain Palestinians living in the US due to deteriorating conditions in the region. Biden cited the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as the primary reason for invoking Deferred Enforced Departure protection. The order will allow Palestinian tourists, students, and workers to avoid deportation until at least August 2025 and seek employment. Those convicted of felonies or deemed a public safety threat will not be eligible.
