00:10 How long have you been working on it again?
00:12 It's been 70 years.
00:14 That's a lot.
00:15 In 2014, I was blessed with the opportunity in Selma
00:23 to play the most influential civil rights leader of the 20th century,
00:27 Dr. Martin Luther King.
00:29 I knew that it was destiny, and I wanted to be a part of that.
00:33 This had been a seven-year dream journey.
00:36 The looming cloud was always budget.
00:39 Selma was always going to be in the region of $20 million.
00:42 That's a tough ask.
00:43 There weren't very many movies out there that were just about black people.
00:47 My mom would often talk about, "You are going to walk among kings."
00:53 So many people in this industry wait for permission to act,
00:58 but I've always known about him and never has been him as long as I've known him.
