Thousands of people use Ayahuasca tea containg DMT in Brazil and around the world. Attracting scientific research in it's affects on our brain and consciousness.
Ayahuasca is made from the bark and leaves of South American plants. Traditionally used by Amazonian people for medicinal and religious purposes. A recent scientific study produced extensive results about Ayahuasca.
Volunteer's were given a small 20 mg dose Ayahuasca DMT (dimethyltryptamine). Two types of brain scanning equipment was then used MRI and EEG with startling results. The brain images were analyzed before, during and after taking DMT. The published findings revealed how DMT dramatically altered brain function.

There was a big increase in connectivity between the brains different parts,
with the biggest changes occurring in he frontal, temporal and parietal lobes. These are responsible for language, memory, attention and imagination.
DMT created a more fluid and flexible hyper-connected communication in the brain. Causing the areas of the brain dealing with perception of reality to change.
Some volunteers described leaving this world into another that is incredibly immersive and richly complex. Or being manipulated by other beings they felt might hold special power over them, like gods. This altered state of consciousness caused distorted and bizarre colourful visions defying description. DMT created a radically more anarchic, dissordered brain without control.

The medical advantages of using DMT in treatments of mental illness are of great interest. The sustained neuroplasticity, could have wide-ranging therapeutic benefits.
