Serving as the first production model of Lancia's new styling language, the Ypsilon combines an illuminated version of the “kalice” grille and round taillights inspired by the iconic Lancia Stratos. These features were initially previewed on the Pu+Ra HPE concept and will become standard on all future models, including the Gamma crossover and Delta hatchback.
Other exterior highlights include polygonal headlights mounted lower than usual on the front bumper and gloss black accents on the exterior. Yet the familiar proportions, shared mirror caps and parts of the greenhouse can't hide the fact that the new Ypsilon is the proudly Italian sibling of the Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa.
Looking inside, great attention has been paid to high-quality materials and unique design features to make the cabin resemble an Italian living room, at least according to Lancia. This feeling is further emphasized thanks to the collaboration with Italian high-end furniture brand Cassina, which contributed to the choice of materials and colors. Highlights include velvet-upholstered seats with a nostalgic "cannelloni" motif and a circular center console that resembles a coffee table.
The new Ypsilon is also the first model to introduce Lancia's SALA (Sound Air Light Augmentation) infotainment system, which will feature across the entire future product range. The digital cockpit has a dual-screen layout, while the illuminated sphere at the top of the instrument panel likely serves as an AI-powered virtual assistant.
Lancia's re-entry into the subcompact segment is 4.08 m (160.6 in) long, 1.76 m (69.3 in) wide and 1.44 m (56.7 in) high. This means an increase of 240 mm (9.5 in) in length, a 120 mm (4.7 in) increase in width and a 70 mm (2.8 in) reduction in height compared to its 14-year-old predecessor, putting it in line with the modern B . -segment models.
The all-electric version of the Lancia Ypsilon is equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor producing 154 hp (115 kW / 156 PS) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque.
