Steps reveal all about their new musical Hear and Now with its World Premiere coming to Birmingnham

The pop group Steps are back with a new musical based on their songs. They tell BirminghamWorld today (9 February) about the show and their fondness for the city with the World Premiere coming to the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham

00:00 This is something we've been working on for a very long time, isn't it guys?

00:03 And you can expect lots of laughter, lots of love and friendship

00:08 and it's a story about four friends who make a pact to embark on their summer of love.

00:14 So it's very in keeping with the steps and our world.

00:18 What's lovely is we heard a script reading of the script as it is today

00:23 and we were so excited because you could almost tell which song would go into the next bit of the show.

00:29 So yeah, I think we're excited to see what the bands think.

00:33 We wanted something geographically to kind of sit right slap bang in the middle

00:40 so everybody could travel to.

00:41 So that's why we have chosen Birmingham for the premiere of this musical.

00:47 Do you know what? We've been coming to Birmingham for years and we've toured here for a very, very long time

00:51 and I think all of us can say our memories of it are always really warm

00:55 and we've always been made to feel so welcome when we come here.

00:58 So it feels like the perfect place to start this journey.

01:02 Faye and I have both done musicals in this theatre.

01:05 No stranger to this theatre.

01:07 So it's so exciting to be able to say that we've got our own show.

01:11 We have co-producers on our own show coming to this theatre.

01:15 Very excited.

01:16 But here and now our brand new British musical is coming to Birmingham to the Alexandra Theatre.

01:22 Tickets are on sale now.

01:25 We've also, our pre-sale has, what's the fact that we have?

01:28 Broken all box office records for this theatre.

01:31 Yes, we did it in two hours.

01:34 And it will be starting in November.

01:36 The 9th of November until the 24th is it?

01:40 I believe so.
