Chinese Hackers Maintained Access to US Infrastructure for Years, Report Finds
  • 3 months ago
A new report from US security groups finds that Chinese hacking groups maintained access to US infrastructure systems for "at least five years" before recently being discovered. The hackers infiltrated communications, energy, transportation, and waste and wastewater systems across the continental US and its territories. The goal was reportedly not intelligence gathering but gaining control of critical infrastructure that could be disrupted during a conflict. FBI Director Wray recently warned Congress that China is "positioning" to damage US infrastructure if tensions escalate.
