The snow currently battering Sheffield is expected to turn to sleet this afternoon for much of Sheffield.  Snow has been falling heavily after a slow start this morning.  Harry Harrison presents the afternoon forecast from Sheffield city centre,

00:00 Good afternoon ladies and gents. I am back on the roof of the Stars offices for your afternoon weather forecast on this Sheffield snow day.

00:09 As you can see around me on the tables and in the sky it is snowing.

00:15 We have got snow in Sheffield city centre and it is starting to settle after the wet ground at the start of the day made it more difficult.

00:23 In terms of the weather for the rest of the day then we are still under a yellow weather warning for much of Sheffield.

00:28 Some parts with of course an amber weather warning at a higher altitude.

00:33 The snow is expected to continue until about 4 o'clock according to the Met Office when we are then expecting it to turn into sleet.

00:41 And that sleet will continue for an hour before we are hit with rain into the evening which will continue through the night.

00:48 And hopefully wash some of this snow away before tomorrow.

00:51 The yellow weather warning is still in place for tomorrow for snow so it may well still be here.
