Senators Present 'Toughest and Fairest' Border Reforms and Aid for Allies in $118 Billion Package
  • 3 months ago
Senators have released a $118 billion package that includes a bipartisan border security deal and new aid for Ukraine, Israel, and other allies. The border security portion would expand detention capacity, make asylum harder to qualify for, and end "catch and release" policies. It provides $20 billion to expand DHS's border operations and hiring and creates a deportation program. It could temporarily shut down asylum processing if illegal crossings average over 4,000 per week for 3 years.
