"I dress in mob wife aesthetic every day - it exudes confidence and I feel powerful"

A woman dresses in "mob wife aesthetic" every day - and says the style "exudes confidence" and "makes women feel powerful".

Sarah Arcuri, 29, has been dressing the same way for years - in a style which has recently been dubbed 'mob wife aesthetic'.

The trend sees bold fur coats, heeled boots, big gold jewellery and sunglasses take to the stage in a bold glamour revival.

Sarah is an advocate of the style, reminiscent of the mob wives seen in the likes of The Godfather, Scarface and The Sopranos.

She sources her staples second-hand from vintage stores because "it's not about labels and what you have in the bank".

But most importantly, the author from Montclair, New Jersey, says the trend invites women to be "unapologetically themselves".

Sarah said: "I've always been into old school glamour and I've dressed like this as long as I can remember.

"The number one staple is a faux fur coat and not being afraid to wear one too many accessories.

"But if you look at mob movies there are actually so many decades, genres and eras of mob wives.

"You can choose your muse and it can be your inspiration to guide your mob wife style."

Sarah clarified she has dressed and styled herself in this way long before the invention of the term 'mob wife aesthetic'.

It has been adopted by celebrities including Khloe Kardashian, who recently posted a posed picture in a fur coat, captioned "It's giving mob wife vibes".

Sarah said the style is for "everyone" and "anyone can participate" - because it's a low-cost concept.

She said: "I used to shop fast fashion and realised it's terrible all round - things go out of fashion so quickly.

"So much ends up in landfill, but buying second hand is a good transition away from fast fashion."

But the best part about the trend according to Sarah is the boldness and confidence it gives off.

In an answer to Tiktok's minimalist 'clean girl aesthetic', mob wife aesthetic is about "capturing the mob wife bold style".

She said: "Mob wives were unapologetically themselves.

"You have to have nerve and be tough and stand up for yourself and that's what this trend is about.

"I think it exudes a confidence, you walk into a room and you're not afraid to take up space.

"It says 'I am who I am, and I'm proud of it'."
