00:00 What have you taken so far and what are you hoping to get out of the remaining games this

00:06 season on the field?

00:07 Yeah, I mean there's no question that we want to make it to finals and we want to push as

00:11 far as we can and make a grand final and I think we're capable of doing it and we've

00:13 shown that.

00:15 I think our performances have been a little bit inconsistent but we have definitely shown

00:18 what we're capable of and so for us the main priority is just get as consistent as we can

00:23 with these remaining games, get the outcomes we need because it's possible.

00:26 I mean we're I think sitting 9 right now but that's not far from 6 so that's the big priority.

00:31 We don't just want this to be a year where the Jets did pretty well and they showed that

00:35 they could maybe do well.

00:36 We want to come through and actually do something really positive for the program and for the

00:41 city because people continue to believe in us even when we lose two home games in a row

00:45 they keep showing up.

00:46 So yeah, I think soccer wise that's what the team is looking to get out of it.

00:51 For me personally, I've learned a lot about a different playing style just because the

00:54 last 6 years I've played for the same school, 5 of them I've played for the same coach so

01:00 the expectations were pretty much the same for me since I've been 17 years old.

01:04 So coming in here Gary had expectations of me, now Ryan has his expectations, my teammates

01:08 do, Goldie so I'm learning a lot specifically about playing more confident, playing with

01:14 a higher line, not being afraid to get chipped or make a mistake.

01:17 So yeah, just a lot about being confident, taking ownership instead of kind of just being

01:22 the last resort.

01:24 Is it hard sometimes I guess if you do lose a game or goals go in or has it been good

01:29 for you and yeah good for that resilience I guess and learning?

01:32 Yeah, so it's tough.

01:34 We play with a 3 back which most teams don't and it's difficult but we want to score goals

01:40 and so we do play a really attacking driven playing style and formation so we cop goals

01:47 and it happens and you never want to.

01:49 We only come away with one clean sheet and that's obviously very hard for me personally,

01:53 it's something that I want to fix but it teaches you a lot.

01:57 Giving up those goals when it's me diving for the ball and miss hitting it with my hand

02:02 and pushing it into my own goal, that taught me a lot against camera.

02:06 When it's I come out and I block down an angle the best I can but it gets cut back and the

02:10 player's wide open, that teaches me a lot too because at the end of the day there's

02:13 always something you can do.

02:14 So copying goals actually has taught me a lot, a lot more than the clean sheet did.

02:19 And are you working while you're here as well?

02:21 How hard is it to come out here and I guess it's not fully professional yet?

02:27 Yeah, that's actually very difficult.

02:34 It's hard to be still for me because I've come from college where I had a really challenging

02:38 major and then I go straight from classes all day, treatment, training, study, go to

02:43 bed, repeat every day.

02:44 So it's weird for me to wake up and have a free time.

02:45 I really didn't like it at first and with my visa I can't get another job as a priest

02:51 or whatnot so I've been doing some coaching on the side, kind of mentoring young kids

02:56 and I really want to get into more volunteering.

02:59 So that's kind of up on the horizon.

03:00 I've had to move house a couple of times so that's something that's coming up now that

03:01 I'm settled a little bit better.

03:02 But it also just, it's forced me, hey I have all this free time, what can I do right now

03:12 with my day to get better even though this is a part time job?

03:15 Like what kind of recovery can I do even though I have to pay for it?

03:16 Which is a big change from college, everything is laid out for you, you have a nice bath

03:17 and everything is made available.

03:18 And they make a lot available for us too but it's that extra step of getting out and getting

03:19 a sportsmanship, massage, things like that, that having that free time really gives you

03:20 the opportunity to either do that or go sit at the beach all day.

03:21 So then you get to make that choice and it teaches you a lot about responsibility.
