Trump Contradicts His Own Stance on Border Legislation
  • 3 months ago
Donald Trump claimed on his Truth Social platform that he stopped all movement on the US-Mexico border during his presidency. He argued this shows a new bipartisan border bill in Congress is unnecessary. However, Trump did not completely stop crossings and employed harsh policies like family separations. The potential new bill would give Biden powers to curb crossings in emergencies, like halting processing over 5,000 daily encounters. GOP senators back the bill but Trump and House Republicans want to block it for political reasons.
