ALLAN SAINT-MAXIMIN had a moment to forget after seeing a rainbow flick attempt go wrong.

Saint-Maximin was often the source of excitement at St. James' Park owing to his displays of outrageous skill.

However, this did not come without its frustrations, as fans were reminded at Al-Ahli.

The Saudi Pro League outfit was facing off with Chinese Super League side Wuhan Three Towns on Saturday when he made the blunder.

Saint-Maximin, 26, was facing down against two defenders when he attempted an outrageous rainbow flick to fool his markers.

However, the Frenchman ended up being left red-faced as the ball flicked up behind him as he attempted to weave past his markers.

Reacting to the embarrassing gaffe, one social media user said: "Man thought he was Jay Jay Okocha."

A second said: "No way he wanted to pull up a Neymar skill ."

A third said: "Looks like something I tried back in school ."

Luckily Al-Ahli ran out 3-1 winners to spare the winger's blushes.

But it was not the only time Saint-Maximin had tried and failed to make the skill come off.

In a friendly against Egyptian side Zamalek, second-half substitute Saint-Maximin once again put the ball between his legs and jumped in the air.

After landing he then leapt in the air again but lost the ball as he was challenged by a defender before the ball was walloped clear.

A fan said: "Loved him but if he'd done that in the Premier League, I would have loved him a lot less."

A second said: "Never seen a man be so bored ."

However, his teammates were not able to cover the gaffe after a 3-0 loss.

Saint-Maximin sealed a £40million transfer to the Middle East in the summer.

Since joining he has scored three goals and added eight assists in the SPL.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Newcastle has approached to sign Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey, though Eddie Howe has labeled this "incorrect".
