00:00 So John, what are your memories of this picture here?

00:05 It's quite a striking one of a family.

00:07 It is, yes.

00:08 Well, I can't remember how I met this gentleman, but he invited me into his home to photograph

00:12 all his family.

00:13 And it was lovely to see him and his hound.

00:18 And only years later when I came here did I actually see the detail of who he was and

00:23 everything else like that.

00:24 But I just remember him as someone who was very friendly and invited me in all those

00:29 years ago.

00:30 Well, he seemed happy, but I don't think how you could be happy on the unemployment

00:34 pay in those days, which was, I think it was 37 shillings and sixpence a week for adults.
