Visa's Q1 Performance Sparks Investor Concern. Shares Drop 3% Despite Earnings Beat
  • 3 months ago
Visa reported fiscal first-quarter earnings that beat analyst expectations, with net income of $4.9 billion and revenue of $8.63 billion, up from a year ago. Payments volume grew 8% year-over-year for Visa, while processed transactions rose 9%. Cross-border volume increased 16%. However, shares fell nearly 3% in after-hours trading as analysts noted a slowdown in US payment volumes in January per the company's comments. For its fiscal Q2, Visa expects mid-to-high single-digit revenue growth and "high-teens" earnings growth year-over-year.
