On January 26, Buckingham Palace announced that
King Charles has been admitted to the hospital
to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate.
The King was this morning admitted
to a London hospital for scheduled
treatment. His Majesty would like to
thank all those who have sent their
good wishes over the past week, Buckingham Palace statement, via 'LA Times'.
'LA Times' reports that the 75-year-old monarch
was taken to the London Clinic private hospital,
where he will undergo a procedure to treat his prostate.
It is unclear how long the
king will remain in the hospital. .
Last week, Charles' daughter-in-law, Catherine,
the Princess of Wales, was admitted to the same
private hospital to undergo a planned abdominal surgery.
The king reportedly visited his
daughter-in-law in the hospital prior to
starting his own scheduled treatment. .
The "corrective procedure" for the king's
enlarged prostate was first announced
by Buckingham Palace last week.
On January 17, Charles was diagnosed with
a benign condition after going in for a checkup
due to symptoms he was experiencing.
Prior to the procedure, the king was urged
to rest and canceled several engagements.
'LA Times' reports that the king's decision to announce
the surgery ahead of time was part of an effort to
encourage other men to have their prostates checked. .
Buckingham Palace released a statement saying
the king was “delighted to learn that his diagnosis is
having a positive impact on public health awareness.’’
