00:00 Pangasinan is one of the 15 provinces that are expected to experience drought conditions by the end of January.
00:08 There are already ponds that are drying up due to the effects of the El Niño.
00:14 This is Jasmine Gabriel Galvan reporting for GMA Regional TV 1 North Central Luzon.
00:22 Sometimes, this pond is not dry due to the use of the family of Carlos in the Maasin, Mangaldan, Pangasinan.
00:30 They use the water from the pond to drink, as well as to wash and cook.
00:35 But this month, they were surprised because there was no water coming out of their pond.
00:40 Even though the pond is their neighbor's, they thought that this is the effect of the El Niño.
00:46 It's a big privilege for us because that's where we get our water.
00:51 Because there's no water in the pond, they are just asking for help from other neighbors who have connections in the Mangaldan Water District.
00:58 For now, the local government is not facing any problems.
01:02 Only a small percentage depend on the pond or deep well.
01:06 Most of the residents have a connection of water from the water district, while some have their own water source.
01:14 The LGU is also asking for help from the water district to help connect the water to those who are in a faraway place.
01:21 The Mangaldan Water District said that even though they have El Niño, they will not have any problems with the supply
01:26 because they have additional pumping stations that are being opened.
01:29 If it's not a pumping station, maybe it's a tank.
01:35 Actually, the target of the water district for the next 10 years is to remove all of them.
01:39 From GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon, Jasmine Gabriel Galvan, reporting for GMA Integrated News.
