The Dallas Mavericks (24-19) came up short to the Boston Celtics (34-10) 119-110 on Monday night in American Airlines Center.

Despite the loss Dallas did have a great game. Both teams’ field goal percentage was around 50 percent. Both shot a little below 40 percent from three and both evenly rebounded the ball for the most part. Dallas gave up 73 combined points to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Even with giving up that many points to just two players the Mavs still only managed to lose by nine.

“Even with giving up 73 points to two players we still were in the game, which was big. We just weren’t finishing the ball and making shots at a high level tonight.” Head Coach Jason Kidd stated after the game. “You can’t not make shots when you’re playing arguably the best team in the NBA.”

The Mavericks have lost three of their last four games. The Mavericks combined win percentage of their opponents over the next couple of weeks is .605, the toughest schedule in the NBA over that span. This stretch from now until Feb. 10th is massive and can really be an inflection point for the rest of their season.

Luka Doncic had another triple-double, his 64th triple-double of his career. He finished the night with 33 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists.

Kyrie Irving added 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Honorable mention, Tim Hardaway Jr. had 20 points coming off the bench. He is averaging 18.2 points per game, which is the most points by a sixth man in the NBA.

Dallas will be back in AAC on Wednesday to host the the Phoenix Suns at 7:30 PM.
