Alec Baldwin Charged AGAIN in Rust Shooting Death of Halyna Hutchins _ E! News

00:00 Alec Baldwin has been indicted again in the Rust shooting case involving the death of Helena Hutchins.
00:06 Per legal documents viewed by E! News, Baldwin has been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter
00:12 for "negligent use of a firearm without due caution or circumspection."
00:17 Regarding this new charge, Baldwin's attorneys Luke Nikas and Alec Spiro tell E! News,
00:22 "We look forward to our day in court."
00:24 E! News has also reached out to Baldwin's rep but has not yet heard back.
00:28 If convicted, Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison per NBC News.
00:32 A trial date has not been set.
00:34 The new indictment comes nine months after a previous involuntary manslaughter charge against the actor was dropped.
00:40 At the time, his attorneys Nikas and Spiro said in a joint statement to NBC News
00:45 that the District Attorney of Santa Fe County in New Mexico would not be moving forward with plans to prosecute Baldwin.
00:51 "We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin
00:55 and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident."
01:01 The actor also broke his silence on the dismissal, sharing a photo of himself and his wife Hilaria Baldwin on social media.
01:08 In a message that also expressed gratitude to his lawyer, he wrote alongside the April 20th Instagram post,
01:14 "I owe everything I have to this woman."
01:16 In regards to the initial involuntary manslaughter charge, Baldwin and Rust Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed each pleaded not guilty.
01:24 Gutierrez-Reed still faces the charge and her new trial date was previously confirmed for February 21st, 2024.
01:32 Hutchins was fatally wounded on the set of Rust in October 2021
01:36 when a lead projectile was discharged from a prop gun that Baldwin was holding.
01:40 The film's director Joel Souza was also hurt in the incident, though he has since recovered from his injuries.
01:46 Throughout the legal proceeding, Baldwin has denied any wrongdoing in Hutchins' death.
01:51 He said in a 2021 interview with ABC News, "The trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger."
