IndiGo Fined Rs 1.20 Crore, Mumbai Airport Rs 90 Lakh Over People Eating On Tarmac

IndiGo airline has been fined Rs 1.20 crore by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) after a video of passengers eating on the tarmac went viral. The video shows passengers eating on the tarmac while waiting for their delayed flights to take off. Mumbai airport operator MIAL has been fined Rs 90 lakh. The fine imposed on IndiGo is the highest amount the airline has had to pay in recent times. The penalties were imposed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). Mumbai airport has been fined Rs 60 lakh by BCAS and Rs 30 lakh by DGCA. Meanwhile, Air India and SpiceJet have also been fined by DGCA for violating rules relating to rostering of pilots trained to fly during foggy conditions. Watch the video to know more.
