A reflection upon the Sunday Gospel reading, Jn 1:35-42.

00:00 In the Catholic Church, we have the practice of praying certain prayers at a certain time

00:08 of the day.

00:09 A great example of this is the Angelus.

00:12 The Angelus is a prayer that reminds us of that moment when the angel sent from heaven

00:19 speaks to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in that encounter, the Word becomes flesh in

00:26 her womb.

00:27 Our Lady says yes to this great invitation of salvation for the whole world.

00:33 And we never want to forget that miracle of grace, that breakthrough into the world, and

00:40 so we pray the Angelus every day, usually in the morning, and then at noon, and then

00:46 in the evening, so that what happened to Our Lady will keep happening to us.

00:54 We will have that breakthrough of grace, we'll have that encounter, that our life can now

00:59 be blessed with the presence of Jesus Christ, and the things that need to change in our

01:03 life will change because of that miracle so close to us that we are living the memory

01:11 of.

01:12 So this Sunday, there's something similar, as these disciples from John go to see Jesus,

01:17 and they ask Him, "Where do you stay?"

01:21 And Jesus says, "Come and see, come and see."

01:24 And as they go into the Lord's lodging, there they experience His care for them, His tenderness,

01:32 His desire to share His life with them.

01:35 He doesn't only simply want them to see where He dwells.

01:39 Jesus wants to dwell in them, and they change because of that encounter with Christ, so

01:46 much so that when they emerge, we're told in the Gospel that they remembered the time

01:51 of the day when this beautiful encounter happened.

01:55 It says it was about four o'clock in the afternoon.

01:59 Why is that detail included in the Gospel of John?

02:02 Probably because every day at four o'clock, the disciples stopped what they were doing,

02:08 and they said, "Remember, this is the moment that we met Him, and He looked at us, and

02:14 He offered us so much love.

02:16 We experienced the care of God for us in a way like we never did before.

02:21 We want to remember so that that will keep happening to us."

02:26 And this is what Alatea wants to offer to you.
