It's been revealed that a total of eight people were arrested following incidents related

to the Tyne Weir Derby last Saturday. It was reported that these incidents consisted of

indecent chanting and common assault. A Northumbria police spokesperson said the event passed

largely without incident.

More on this news, North of Tyne Mayor Jamie Driscoll attacked the restrictions imposed

during the Derby clash which saw Newcastle supporters forced to travel on a convoy of

special buses. Driscoll said that police should not demonise law-abiding people who have no

intention of causing trouble.
