Trump Appeals Maine Court Decision, Fights to Remain on 2024 Primary Ballot
  • 4 months ago
Former President Donald Trump has appealed a Maine court decision removing him from the state's 2024 Republican primary ballot. Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, a Democrat, said she had a legal obligation to remove Trump under the 14th Amendment's insurrection clause due to his role in the January 6th Capitol attack. Bellows paused her ruling to allow time for Trump to appeal in state court before Maine's March 5th primary. Trump's lawyers argue Bellows was a "biased decisionmaker" who lacked authority and failed to give Trump due process.
