Firefighters are monitoring the small underground gas fire in Simunjan, Sarawak.

Fire and Rescue Senior Officer II Fairus Jemain said the Simunjan fire station received a call about the fire at 10.56pm on Friday (Dec 29) and deployed a team to the site.

00:06 Fire and Rescue Senior Officer 2 Firuz Jemain said the Semunjan Fire Station received a call about the fire at 10.56pm on Friday and deployed a team to the site.
00:17 Firuz said initially they extinguished the fire using foam, but the flames were only extinguished temporarily.
00:24 He said his team was at the location again on Wednesday to put out the fire.
00:29 The fire was believed to have occurred where geological works had previously been carried out.
00:35 Firuz said the fire is not a threat, but however advised local villagers to stay away from the area for now as the fire is located by the side of a small road.
00:44 He said a police report had been lodged and that the relevant authorities have also been informed about the incident.
