KECAK DANCE, from Bali, Indonesia.

Bali has a wealth of art with philosophical meaning which continues to be preserved and is an attraction on the Island of the Gods for local and foreign tourists. Fascinating attractions that can be watched include :

* KECAK DANCE, a combined art performance of drama and dance, taken from the Ramayana story : Rahwana kidnapped Dewi Sinta, then Rama tried to free his beautiful wife. This dance is unique, because it is not accompanied by musical instruments. Throughout the dance, around 70 dancers sit in a circle while chanting 'cak cak cak'. The Kecak dance was initiated by Wayan Limbak ( Balinese dancer ) and Walter Spies ( German painter ) who wanted to present the story of the Ramayana in dance form.

The circular position depicts the army of monkeys led by Dewa Hanoman who helped Rama fight the giant Ravana to free Dewi Sinta. This dance is related to Hindu meaning and philosophy, but can be performed as entertainment, and is a tourist favorite.
