00:32 So you got a nice little background there. How are we doing?

00:34 I got a nice little spread like I thought i'd spruce up the place with a little bit of orange

00:38 I thought I thought it needed a little pop of color as you can see the walls are very gray

00:43 And um, and then you know funny thing I had all these cheetos lying around

00:48 And so I just started I just started arranging them and um, three hours later

00:52 This is what I this is what I came up with. So I love it. It feels very fitting, you know now you're the face

00:57 Sorry, sorry the hands of cheetal. So your apartment kind of has to reflect that I feel

01:08 I feel like that was my that was like on my dream board

01:11 That was like that was like my top three dreams as a kid was like

01:17 be a superhero and be a literal doll

01:23 Brooke i'm three for three. So i'm i'm dying a happy man. You've been traveling so much. You're in toronto

01:28 You're in la you've gone to some amazing destinations around the world with winter coming up for torontonians

01:33 If they could have one vacation, where should they go?

01:35 Where should they go? Where should they go? Um, that's a really good question

01:40 Um, you know, it depends i'm a big one of my favorite things to do is to plan itineraries for myself for other people

01:48 um, you know, i'm

01:50 My instinct would be to say go somewhere tropical, you know, go to go to cancun, you know go to um

01:56 last uh last winter I went to anguilla

02:01 which which is

02:04 Crazy, I maybe two years ago didn't even know that anguilla existed

02:07 But it's got some of the most beautiful beaches and amazing people you'll ever meet

02:11 But if you're a cold weather person and you love

02:14 The slopes then go to tromblon, you know go to tromblon go to whistler stay in canada

02:19 Um do a little apres ski, you know what I mean? Um

02:22 It all just depends on what you want. But the most important thing is that you replenish yourself

02:28 You know rest your body and your soul and your mind

02:33 and um

02:35 And and have a do it with a little bit of cheeto on your fingertips. You know what I mean?

02:39 We did it simu. Yeah, face the cheetos. That's a big deal

02:42 Yeah, there's just like a couple things in the contract. I want you to peruse. Yeah, sure

02:51 What did you think of the person who crashed during avril lavigne's presentation?

02:55 Takes a lot of something to go up on a stage a nationally televised stage with uh with a canadian sweetheart

03:07 I wouldn't be able to um, so so

03:10 Yeah, I mean it definitely it definitely takes

03:13 Something amounting to courage or or you know that fine line between courage and stupidity. I don't know where she was

03:20 I think she was all over that line and over on both sides and just hop stepping but

03:24 But you know what I what I really was surprised by is how long

03:29 The security let it go on for because I saw it happening

03:33 Backstage and I was like, oh my god

03:36 And then like it's still it just went on for another 30 seconds

03:42 And I and I wonder if it was because it was just so brazen that the security guard was like

03:47 Oh, well, this must be

03:48 a part of the show

03:50 But I mean for the for those of us who knew that it wasn't I think we were just like horrified just standing there

03:56 um watching it happen and I know that that particular woman had a had a cause that she was there to you know,

04:03 to promote, um, I don't know what that had to do with breasts, but um

04:09 You know, I I was something about that message. I think maybe got lost in the nudity of it all

04:13 I mean it was an effective way to get people talking and you know talking about people talking

04:18 Have you ever googled yourself and what was the most surprising thing you learned and what was one wild and untrue thing you learned?

04:25 Oh my god. Um

04:27 Yeah, i've googled i've done it a couple times i've done it a couple times. I would say it's terrible for mental health

04:33 um because it's like that thing in high school where

04:38 It's like you if you know people are talking about you

04:41 Like would you rather know what they're saying or not?

04:44 I think I don't really want to get into specifics, but I think there's definitely been untrue things that i've read

04:51 about myself and I think

04:53 The thing that that is hard about this this whole I don't know. I guess this fame thing is like

04:59 you know you you come up in a place where

05:02 At one point in your career everything you hear is generally pretty supportive and then

05:07 You know you get to a place and I think that's maybe

05:09 Indicative of of like where you know, what is that in their career when the negativity starts to happen?

05:15 and you know, I think

05:18 I think there's there it takes a real discipline and a strength of mind to say

05:23 I'm not going to be able to get through to everyone

05:28 I'm not going to be able to explain myself to everyone or to tell the truth to everyone

05:33 Not everyone's going to want to hear it. Not everyone's gonna, you know, uh care

05:38 uh, which fair enough, you know, um

05:41 And you just got to let the haters hate because you know as as they say haters haters gonna hate

05:47 So i'm gonna read you some narcissistic headlines about you and I want you to react

05:51 Okay, just top of mind. So we're gonna start

05:54 Simu Liu was a total fanboy at Taylor Swift's concert and shared some deep cut Swiftie takes

06:02 Yeah, yeah, I have been a bit more of a Swiftie, um

06:05 In in recent. I mean, I think i've always been like a support like a casual fan

06:09 You know, I know the songs that everyone else knows and Taylor's released some absolute bangers over the years, you know

06:16 her 1989 era in the heiress tour was

06:20 Fantastic, like I was pretty much on my feet jumping the whole time what i've really learned to appreciate in this last year

06:28 is um

06:29 Some of the like lesser known songs or some of her

06:32 Her like, you know, it's like it's not

06:35 The stuff that is her potential like maybe the catchiest but there's real insight and real heart and you know

06:43 Um and songs like we'll just talk about midnight's first like songs like the great war

06:47 You know, which one of my favorites one of my absolute favorites. Um

06:52 songs like daylight, um

06:54 songs that like are just they're so

06:59 Sounds like cornelia street, you know, like they're so specific songs like all too well 10-minute version

07:04 They're so specific and because they're so specific. They're so universally relatable

07:09 and um, she's got this just wonderful unique ability to just tap into

07:14 what everyone is feeling and and I think she's

07:17 She's so real for that, you know, so I got that I got the next one for you. Okay, this one's a little spicy

07:26 New book has inspired some extremely thirsty reviews and apparently he's a daddy

07:35 Um, that's that's so interesting that a book that the book wouldn't would inspire that but I appreciate I appreciate that

07:42 I appreciate that because it it's the book the book is uh, it's those that's a very vulnerable part of me more

07:49 It feels more

07:52 It feels like i'm bearing more of myself than that woman that crashed the stage at the 2023 juno awards, you know

07:58 like but it's a similar action if you will of just like the vulnerability of like just showing

08:05 All of the parts of yourself and maybe maybe that book is doing it in a more metaphorical sense

08:12 less on the nose, but um

08:15 Yeah, yeah, yeah

08:18 um, so I appreciate that I appreciate that i'm very proud of the book and i'm glad that people are

08:23 Responding to it in whatever positive way that they uh, they so choose

08:28 Simu Liu says he grew up the definition of poor and that treating his parents is the greatest

08:33 It is the greatest. Um, and i'm sure my parents would have something to say about about what I said

08:39 um, but but you know, we weren't we weren't well off by any means, but we made it work and

08:44 You know, it was great too is you know, I got to watch my parents grow in their careers from

08:49 You know when I when I first came to canada, it was about four and a half

08:54 My parents were yeah, they were in grad school. They were living off of

08:57 You know scholarship money and I got to witness them get their first jobs and get promoted

09:04 You know and both my parents work at the same worked at the same engineering company

09:08 together for like 20 years and they

09:11 um

09:14 And I got to watch them grow and get promoted and get to you know

09:17 Get to a place where they could buy their first house

09:19 Of course, they wouldn't be able to afford it in this day and age with the price of the way that they are

09:24 But back then it was still possible

09:26 and um, and that's the house that I grew up in and the house that they still live in so

09:31 Um, i'm just so proud of them, you know, their story is is so inspirational

09:36 So much more inspirational than anything i'll ever do

09:39 and um

09:41 and I just i'm very grateful to be in a position now where I can

09:45 I can show appreciation and I can give back and and let them know that you know

09:50 Their their next few years are going to be the definition of not poor and that we're going to um, just

09:57 You know go ham and i'm going to spoil the crap out of them
