Hammers' Penalty-Taker appears to aim a Cheeky Nod at His Team Mate amid his Arsenal Horror Show

Said Benrahma appeared to wink at his former West Ham team-mate Declan Rice after the Arsenal midfielder conceded a late spot-kick at the Emirates on Thursday.

West Ham's 2-0 triumph over the title contenders launched David Moyes' side up to sixth in the table, while Arsenal fell two points behind new Premier League leaders Liverpool, who beat Burnley 2-0 on Boxing Day.

Tomas Soucek fired the Hammers ahead in the 13th minute with a poacher's goal inside the six-yard box, before Konstantinos Mavropanos' header in the second half crucially doubled the visitors' advantage.

The Irons nearly walked away from the Emirates with a three-goal victory after Rice, who was bought by Arsenal for £105million from West Ham in the summer, slipped in the penalty area and tripped Emerson Palmieri, conceding a late spot-kick.

West Ham penalty-taker Benrahma, who joined the club in 2020 and played alongside Rice until the midfielder's summer move, appeared to wink at his old London Stadium team-mate after he conceded the penalty.

Shortly after winking, the Algerian star stepped up from the spot and had his effort comfortably saved by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, who parried the ball to safety after diving to his left. The full-time whistle blew moments later.

Just after Benrahma placed the ball on the spot, Prime Video's cameras caught the West Ham star winking at somebody on the edge of the penalty area.

A separate video from the stands, which revealed West Ham supporters mocking their former captain after he conceded the penalty, showed that Rice was in the spot on the edge of the box where Benrahma appeared to aim his cheeky gesture.

Fans continued to react to the incident after the match, claiming that Benrahma was 'too busy laughing to score' after his alleged wink at Rice.

'At 15secs in Benrahma turns to his right to the Arsenal players. Gabriel (Magalhaes) looks at Rice after the wink who turns and walks away. Said (Benrahma) too busy laughing to score.'

Rice, who has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta's side so far this campaign, will hope to bounce back to his best when Arsenal take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on New Year's Eve.
