Aired (December 29, 2023): Another check off her bucket list! Let’s get to know Carina Dayondon's journey on her way up, climbing the highest mountain in the Himalayas in Nepal, Mt. Everest.

00:06 The Mountaineers of Seven Summits, let's meet one of them.

00:10 2007, he is one of the three Filipinas who climbed the highest mountain on the planet, Mount Everest.

00:25 2018, the first Filipino to climb the highest point in all seven continents,

00:31 was the tactical officer of the Philippine Coast Guard, Karina Dayondon.

00:35 The mountains of success were destroyed, but the mountains of greatness were also passed.

00:42 We trained for three years before we climbed Mount Everest.

00:46 When we went to Mount Everest, it's an alpine mountain, so it's very cold.

00:52 We're not used to it yet. Of course, the worst thing is that we will die because the high altitude is really killing us.

01:00 We want to show to the whole Philippines how our unity and teamwork can do something that seems impossible.

01:06 And that impossible is Mount Everest.

01:09 Aside from the physical challenges, there are also many changes in the heart.

01:14 We didn't expect that it's not easy to find sponsors here in the Philippines to meet the needs of money.

01:24 We thought of looking for a discount or solution to overcome those challenges.

01:31 When she climbed the last summit in Antarctica,

01:35 I was there when the airplane landed, I already touched the snow in Antarctica.

01:41 I was really crying and thankful to God that the journey for the second summit of the Philippines is over.

01:50 Unexpectedly, the weather became bad.

01:56 So we were trapped there for 10 days.

01:59 We also reached there on Christmas.

02:02 We were climbing a block of snow, then we made a Christmas tree,

02:08 we made an Eskimo, wow, it's like you got the feel of being inside an Eskimo.

02:15 So, it was a beautiful experience.

02:18 Despite everything, Karina is happy with what she learned.

02:23 There's nothing impossible to be achieved by the Mount Everest.

02:26 As long as we are strong, determined, prayerful, the Filipino can do it.
