Every morning, Juanita Mingle removes the silicone covering from her prosthetic leg under a heating blanket so that the metal parts of the prosthesis aren't cold on her skin when she puts the pieces together.

Then the 67-year-old Ohio resident does the same thing with her skinny, tortoiseshell cat, five-year-old Lola Pearl, who is missing her left hind leg.
