00:08 Thirteen tornadoes touched down in the Chicago area that evening.

00:12 I remember the day like it was yesterday.

00:14 I had just gotten off of work when I started receiving after weather alerts about severe

00:19 storms.

00:20 Next thing I knew, I heard sirens outside of my window and started texting everyone

00:23 I knew in harm's way.

00:25 When the worst of the storm had passed, I hopped in my car to see some of that devastation

00:29 for myself.

00:31 Homes and businesses were just destroyed and you could see right through the roof at some

00:34 properties.

00:35 While tornadoes in Illinois aren't rare, we don't see as many in the Chicago area.

00:39 This is actually only the second outbreak I've covered in recent years here, and one

00:43 I won't forget when I think about 2023.
