The holiday season is a very important one for the British royal family, and it is above all a time of traditions. Ever year the royals do their best to observe their typical Christmas time traditions and here are some of them for you now.

00:17 Most years the week leading up to Christmas the monarch would host their annual luncheon,
00:21 the affairs for extended members of the family and it's held at Buckingham Palace.
00:28 Last year King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the lunch at Windsor Castle so perhaps the
00:32 tradition is changing slightly.
00:37 This is also a time where many members of the royal family will host charity parties
00:40 and events during the season's greetings.
00:45 In recent years Kate, now Princess of Wales, has hosted a Christmas carol service attended
00:49 by many members of the royal family.
00:53 One that might not be happening again any time soon is that the royal princes would
00:56 play soccer together.
00:59 PopSugar reports that Prince William and Prince Harry used to play a Christmas Eve game on
01:03 the Sandringham Estate alongside members of the staff.
01:08 Another important holiday tradition for the royal family is the sending out of their yearly
01:12 holiday cards.
01:14 Like many families around the world, the royals send out annual holiday cards and according
01:22 to the royal family's official website, Queen Elizabeth sent around 750 cards total which
01:27 she would start signing on her summer trip to Balmoral.
01:32 The British royals also attend the Black Tide Dinner on Christmas Eve.
01:36 In his memoir, Prince Harry says the royal family dines at a long table covered with
01:39 white cloth and white name cards.
01:43 And unlike many other families who exchange presents on Christmas Day, the Windsors honour
01:47 their German heritage by opening presents after afternoon tea on Christmas Eve instead
01:51 of on Christmas Day.
