Shocking Moment: Mass Brawl Breaks Out in Turkish League Match as Five Players Are Sent Off

A mass brawl broke out and five players were sent out in stoppage time of Wednesday's Turkish third-division clash between Bursapor and Diyarbekispor.

Tempers erupted in the closing moments of the match when a visiting player celebrated his goal in front of home supporters. Things quickly turned into an all-out brawl between both sets of players.

Turkish football is already dealing with the fallout from recent high-profile violence after a referee was punched in the face by MKE Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca.

The official was hospitalized as a result before being discharged while Koca resigned from his role and the season was suspended before eventually resuming.

Further violence broke out in a Turkish volleyball match that saw players and coaches attacked by spectators with glass and plastic bottles.

This latest incident on Wednesday is another damning example of violence spilling into sporting arenas.

Players, coaches, and technical staff at Bursapor's Timsah Arena were involved in the ugly scenes that resulted in riot police being deployed and spectators trying to get onto the pitch.

A melee of home players can be seen aiming kicks and punches at members of the opposition standing in the dugout while others try to intervene.

Futile efforts to calm the ensuing chaos fail and players including Bursapor goalkeeper Deniz Aydın can be seen trying to punch and kick opposition players.

Hosts midfielder Bilal Guney was the worst offender as he tried to aim a flurry of kicks and punches at another player who was being separated by security staff and police.

20-year-old Guney refused to calm down and after initially pushing a riot officer out of the way, proceeded to evade other security personnel before charging at another player.

More level-headed teammates then drag him away back to the pitch while other violence carries on in another area of the pitch.

Scenes eventually settle enough for the referee to give his verdict and proceed to send off five players as a result, three from the visitors and two from Bursapor.

Visitors, Diyarbekispor, went on to record a 2-0 victory at the bottom of the table side.
