A woman has recreated The Holiday cottage - out of CAKE.

Bridie West, 30, spent a day and a half sculpting Rosehill Cottage from the Christmas film starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black.

She used vanilla sponge and buttercream to create the shape of the house and windows and florist paste for the small details – such as the iconic blue door.

She used ten piping bags for the creation and was delighted with the outcome.

Bridie, a cake maker, from Brentwood, Essex, said: “It came out beautifully.

“Some people were really moved – maybe because they are comforted by the film.

“It’s magical.”

Bridie started baking to help with her anxiety and took her business - Bridie’s Cakes - full time in 2018 and has always had a “vintage” style to her creations.

She decided to make her first building cake in October 2023 – the diner from TV show Gilmore Girls.

Bridie said: “I love Gilmore Girls.

“It’s always on in the background while I’m baking.”

She spent two days crafting the chocolate cake.

She said: “That was so much fun for me.”

Bridie decided to make her own birthday cake in November and spent a day making the dream house from the iconic romantic comedy ’30 Going on 30’.

After sharing her creations she asked her followers what she should make next - and they requested the cottage from The Holiday.

Bridie said: “It’s so lovely people can be made happy by cakes.

“With my cakes you can still see they are a cake but still have a likeness.

“It’s like an illustration from a book.

“They are whimsical.”

Bridie wants to continue creating building cakes and has had requests from clients to create their wedding venues out of cake.

She hopes to recreate Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment from Sex in the City and Hagrid’s hut from Harry Potter next.

Bridie said: “I see a lot of cakes that are all the same.

“I have found my niche.”
