00:40 >> Hi, okay, I'm Dave Reed.
00:55 I own the Bridge Tavern in Old Hortsmouth.
00:59 Lovely little nestles away pub right on the Canberra dock.
01:03 We serve a lot of fresh fish, seafood, and other steaks,
01:07 grills, and everything else.
01:09 We've done really well over this Christmas period.
01:12 We're fully booked for Christmas Day.
01:15 We take our customers from all over Hortsmouth and the far.
01:22 They're all very nice people.
01:24 We don't have any problems here.
01:26 It's all a lot of locals that really enjoy their pint.
01:31 We serve full of zales.
01:33 We've always got three or four on, sometimes five.
01:37 So quite a big number of choices.
01:40 We've won ourselves into the Canberra Awards three years in a row.
01:47 We had the amazing Greg Wallace come and dine with us and
01:51 hold a function here as well.
01:54 Yeah, just a generally nice, good pub, a proper pub, no plastic.
02:02 >> And it's known for its good atmosphere as well, isn't it?
02:04 >> It's a great atmosphere, yeah, really good.
02:06 The locals just join in with everyone and very, very, very friendly.
02:12 My bar staff are very good.
02:13 They serve the table, all our food's served at the table.
02:18 We've got a nice function room upstairs that we're sat in at the moment,
02:21 just outside my kitchen.
02:23 We seat 70 people downstairs, 65 people upstairs.
02:29 >> Ah.

03:03 >> Obviously, lots of sailors used to come here.
03:16 >> Yeah, yeah, in the years, there's been many, many sailors that have come here.
03:20 Sir Robin Knox Johnson is one of our locals.
03:23 He comes regularly.
03:26 There's quite a few visiting sailors even now that come.
03:30 The Americans always find us when there's a boat in.
03:35 They come to see lots of things here, really.
03:38 We have a fantastic historic mural on the side of the pub,
03:43 which we only just had restored.
03:49 So it's in top condition at the moment.
03:51 Please come over and take pictures if you feel free.
03:54 >> Yeah, and what's on the mural?
03:57 >> It's a picture or it depicts a picture of, I think, of the 1500s.
04:07 So there is a young lady called Portsmouth Lil in it
04:11 and one or two spicy little things to look for.
04:15 And yeah, it's very famous.
04:17 Come and look.
