Almost £10m will be invested to develop a new tap-and-go ticketing system for public transport across the Liverpool City Region. Beginning on the Merseyrail network, a new app and ability to pay through contactless and mobile phones are to be developed after a multi-million-pound boost from the combined authority. A date has not been set for the introduction of the scheme.

The first six emergency 'bleeding control cabinets' have been installed in Liverpool city centre in an attempt to save lives. The newly installed cabinets can be used as a vital tool to prevent and reduce major blood loss before paramedics arrive. They've been put up in key locations across Liverpool city centre, including in the Ropewalks and Mathew Street areas, with four more set to be installed in the next couple of weeks.

Liverpool's cruise terminal is set to be handed over to the private sector. The city council is set to confirm it will end its operation of the facility at a cabinet meeting this week. Documents released by the city council ahead of the executive meeting said stepping away presents the most palatable option for it to achieve "best value."
