An immersive art installation in Bristol: Wake the Tiger

Bristol has long been known for its art scene, and the wake the tiger exhibition on Albert road offers locals a multi-sensory art experience for all ages, with over 30 different immersive environments for you to discover. But why is it so unique?

00:00 I don't think there's any other city in the world that would have embraced Wake the Tiger

00:04 quite like it has and I think that lends itself to Bristol being such a creative city anyway.

00:10 We had a lot of local artists that were part of creating Wake the Tiger as well.

00:16 Bristol has long been known for its art scene and the Wake the Tiger exhibition on Albert Road

00:22 offers locals a multi-sensory art experience. Something our directors are super passionate

00:28 about is world building, creating these spaces where you can almost forget your every day and

00:34 become immersed in new worlds, learning new stories, finding out and discovering new things

00:40 about yourself, about the environment. There's a lot of messaging around sustainability,

00:45 a lot of the rooms that we've created here have been centred around recycling, reusing

00:51 different materials and creating art out of things which would have been discarded.

00:56 So Wake the Tiger is an art walk-through experience. Effectively you are leaving this

01:04 world and stepping through a portal into the world of Meridia. It's made up of 27 unique

01:10 art installations and the idea is that you explore each of those and they're based on the four

01:16 elements, air, earth, fire and water. The founders of Wake the Tiger also founded Boomtown Festival

01:23 and if you're familiar with that at all, they very much look at creating new and exciting and

01:31 different worlds. So for people to be able to come to such a unique space is really exciting,

01:38 it's something that's very different. There's nothing in Bristol like this, there's nothing

01:42 in the UK like this and we've been so fortunate to win so many awards as well, you're recognised

01:48 by the community as offering something that's so new and so different to what's already out there.

01:55 On stepping through the portal into Merida, you discover a factory that was once part of a

02:01 bustling hub of trade and industry which has since been left to rot in the wake of Merida's climate

02:07 crisis. But what was the process of creating the dream factory and what are they hoping for in the

02:14 future? So what's next for Wake the Tiger? We've had over 250,000 people through the doors already

02:21 and we have been so excited to recently announce that we will be expanding and opening an entire

02:28 new space and expansion for early 2024 which is going to be the 2nd of February. In the words of

02:36 Luke Mitchell who is our creative director and co-founder, "Expect the most mind-blowing immersive

02:42 art production imaginable, all laid out within a maze of exploration, a complete dazzling wonder

02:48 of the senses spanning creativity, discovery and playful magic, an adventure for all ages."

02:54 I think that really sums up the tireless work that's being put into creating something truly
