00:00 Adele graces the cover of the Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment issue, and this morning

00:05 the superstar accepted the coveted Sherri Lansing Leadership Award at this year's gala.

00:10 I was there and spoke with Helen Mirren about Adele receiving this honor.

00:15 You're presenting to Adele.

00:16 Why is Adele so worthy of being honored today?

00:20 She's going to be one of those iconic artists who will be remembered for many, many, many

00:26 years.

00:28 So she is of the century in that sense, but also we're here to recognize her work as a

00:35 philanthropist and she's a quiet philanthropist.

00:39 She doesn't do it noisily or publicly.

00:44 She does it quietly and privately.

00:47 If someone other than Ralph gives me a reward, please make sure that Dame Helen Mirren is

00:53 honoring me.

00:54 Okay.

00:55 She's so classy.

00:56 It is fabulous.

00:57 They're wonderful.

00:58 And of course, Adele was also in attendance this morning.

01:00 And here's a little bit of our catch up.

01:03 I vividly have a memory of my first interview with you.

01:06 It was at the American Music Awards and you had just launched into superstardom.

01:11 And it was all these years ago.

01:13 How do you feel like you've grown and changed and handled what has become such an epic,

01:19 but very hardworking career?

01:22 Oh gosh.

01:24 I think everything has changed.

01:25 You know, I think my perspective, the way I think about certain things, the way that

01:30 I want to assert myself in my job and my career and the things that I want to do and the dreams

01:34 that I have.

01:37 But also at the same time, my family and my friends keep me grounded and that's remained

01:41 constant.

01:42 And for that, I'm the most grateful.

01:47 Dua also told us how touched she was by the impact of her hit, Dance the Night.

01:51 I think for me, just the response and the reaction from all the fans and the listeners

01:56 and people listening to Dance the Night throughout all of summer was really just like the most

02:02 wonderful surprise.

02:03 And I don't know, I feel so grateful to have been part of such an incredible movie.

02:07 I feel like it really captured the cultural zeitgeist.

02:09 I think the whole world went pink for a while.

02:12 I mean, why is her music so catchy?

02:15 I mean, I'm still listening to it nonstop.

02:17 I love it so much.

02:19 And finally this morning, I put Kerry Washington on the spot about a possible scandal reboot.

02:25 I don't know.

02:26 That is a Shonda Rhimes question.

02:28 If she wants to do it, I'm in.

02:30 As long as the cast is in, as long as Bellamy's there and Tony's there and Scott Foley's there,
