State Police ILLEGAL Misread Plate Pursuit - December 9, 2023

On the morning of December 9th, 2023, a Louisiana State Police trooper attempted to stop a Ford Focus on the Inner Loop Expressway (also known as Interstate 220 Loop) in the Northwest La. city of Shreveport, but the driver did not stop, and a pursuit ensued at speeds of around 100 MPH. The driver eventually stopped and was taken into custody.

Unfortunately we missed several transmissions relating to this pursuit, as LSP's dispatcher unpatched Troop G's channel from Troop F's channel and we stopped hearing it in our side of the state. I was able to pull some traffic from the Broadcastify Calls platform (and am using the audio under a Creative Commons license) but unfortunately that SDR is misconfigured and cuts out or altogether misses transmissions. Oh well, I guess we can't win 'em all.

It is unknown as to why the trooper attempted a traffic stop in the first place, but when he initially radioed it in, he misread one digit of the license plate. I would be willing to bet he "accidentally" mistyped it into his in-car computer, which naturally returned to something different, and gave him PC ("Probable Cause") to make a traffic stop. If so, that was quite literally the exact same tactic used by Frisco, TX police in that very viral incident from July 2023.
