Curious elephant picks up tourist's camera bag and tips it upside down

A massive elephant called ‘Curious George’ picked up a tourist’s camera bag with his trunk and tipped it upside down.

Animal communicator Joan Ranquet was leading a group trip to Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe, when a huge bull visited their camp.

Footage filmed last month shows the inquisitive elephant walk right over towards Joan before sticking his nose in her black camera backpack.

After rooting around in the bag momentarily, George dragged it from under the tent and flipped it upside down using his trunk, completely emptying it on the ground.

Joan said: “It would have been intimidating if I were out in the open, but we were under a flimsy tent.

“George is a massive bull and is apparently curious about everything, hence his name.

“The staff all knew him and were yelling ‘George, no, no’. I didn't get nervous when I realised that they all knew him and this seemed to be business as usual with him.

“I was absolutely thrilled to have had that encounter. His trunk touched the girl next to me and started to come toward me.

“I love safe interactions of connection with wildlife. So to me it was absolutely magical.

“I am an animal communicator and lead small wildlife trips to see endangered species around the planet. I was with a group of eight people who came on a trip with me.”
