00:22 - So when I found out I got the role,

00:24 I was coming home finally from Mermaid.

00:27 And I was like, oh my God, how cool.

00:28 So it's full circle for sure.

00:33 So what was it like?

00:33 I mean, you've got Oprah Winfrey

00:35 also as a executive producer of this.

00:37 Did you get some time with her?

00:38 Did she prepare you for like

00:40 what this experience might be like?

00:41 - Yes, well Oprah is such a powerhouse.

00:43 So I think when I first like met her,

00:46 I was so like, oh my gosh, it's Oprah.

00:48 But she has such a maternal instinct.

00:50 Like she's such a mom and is just so loving

00:53 and protects you.

00:54 So I felt so safe on set and I'm just so happy

00:57 I got to be surrounded by these really pioneers of women

01:00 around me, Taraji, Fantasia.

01:02 I felt like they were lifting me up

01:04 and I was learning so much from just watching them create

01:07 and do their amazing art.

01:08 - I mean, it was something to see.

01:09 Fantasia is like, I mean, Oscar performance in this film.

01:22 - It was insane, honestly.

01:41 me and Felicia went in our sweats and it was cold

01:44 and we were like, we have to see her perform this

01:46 'cause she was singing it live every take.

01:52 We were all just standing there watching her crying.

01:55 Literally, I get chills just thinking about it.

01:57 So when people see her performance of this,

02:23 That would mean a lot because the story of this film

02:26 means so much to all of us for so long.

02:28 And just seeing this beautiful reimagination of it

02:34 the greatness in that, I think it would be an honor,

02:37 honestly, but if not, too, we still did our thing.
