State Police Motorcycle Pursuit - December 9, 2023

In the early morning hours of December 9th, 2023, a Louisiana State Police trooper attempted to stop a Harley Davidson motorcycle inside the city of Monroe, allegedly for speeding. The rider had other plans, though, and led troopers on an hour-long high-speed chase throughout Ouachita Parish.

Eventually the rider turned onto an ATV trail on a state Wildlife Management Area, which LSP's newest (2021+) Tahoes could not fit through without destroying the door mirrors. A few troopers in older Tahoes were able to stay in the pursuit until they reached the end of the ATV trail. The rider then led them on a very brief foot pursuit before being captured and being taken to a nearby hospital.

A few things to note here: after the rider bailed, a sergeant radioed to let him see the other troopers' flashlights. This was probably just so he could find them in the woods near the interstate, but could also have been referencing a few previous incidents in which troopers severely beat motorists with their flashlights. The sergeant radioed that no force was used, but I'm not sure I believe that.

The stated reason for the initial stop was speed, but I'm not completely sure I believe that. The bike had a temporary tag, meaning it had been recently purchased. Troopers, and other cops in this area, have a lengthy history of unlawfully stopping people for bogus reasons including having temp tags. Apparently they were students of the soon-to-be-infamous Street Cop Training program that teaches cops to violate citizens' rights and the US Constitution.
