00:24 The oath was administered by Governor-at-Armililis Sai Saundara Rajan at Raj Bhawan in Hyderabad on Saturday.

00:30 I, Akbar-ud-Din Oase, who has been appointed as the lawmaker of the Assembly, swear by Allah that I will be loyal and obedient to the law.

00:43 However, this move has not been without controversy.

00:46 The Telangana BJP chose to boycott the oath taking ceremony in protest of OAC's appointment as the interim speaker.

00:52 Members of the BJP cited concerns over the seniority of OAC, asserting that there were other members more qualified for the role.

01:00 They have labelled the appointment as a violation of rules.

01:03 In response to this objection, BJP MLA submitted a letter to Governor-at-Armillis Sai Saundara Rajan,

01:08 urging her to set aside the nomination of Akbar-ud-Din Oase as the pro-term speaker.

01:13 The letter argued that such an appointment went against established norms and requested the appointment of the senior-most member instead.

01:20 The BJP MLAs further warned of boycotting this wedding in event if their concerns were not addressed.

01:26 They later stated, "In this context, the TSBJP requests you to set aside the nomination of Sri Akbar-ud-Din Oase as pro-term speaker

01:33 as it constitutes a violation of norms and instructs the appointment of the senior-most member.

01:38 The TSBJP also requests you to instruct the officials concerned to withhold the process of election of a new full-time speaker

01:45 for the newly constituted assembly pending nomination of a senior-most member as speaker.

01:50 The TSBJP otherwise will be compelled to refrain from taking oath in front of a person who is appointed against the norms."

01:57 BJP Telangana General Secretary Gujjula Preminder Reddy said that seniors have been neglected and Akbar-ud-Din Oase has been given the post.
